Smiling Circle Yoga Studio, LLC was founded in March, 2002 by Yeong Chang. Yeong is a Certified and Registered Yoga Teacher recognized by National Yoga Alliance.

Yeong has attended Boston University, double majoring in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics.  Yeong graduated with honors in both majors in May of 1995.  After successful career with several companies as an Electrical Engineer, specializing in Test Engineering, Yeong suffered from stress related illness in the Fall of 2001.  Her  journey of finding her true calling began.

It was a truly hard decision to make to leave the profession she was well trained in, even though she knew from the beginning that it was not her true calling.  With unwavering and steadfast support from her partner John and several of her close friends, she took a gigantic leap of faith to completely change her career to dedicate her time towards helping other people needlessly suffering from their day to day stress and tensions.

Prior to her illness, Yeong has been a student of Yoga for two years.  She furthered her study by taking various workshops from several prominent teachers.  She became a Certified and Registered Yoga Teacher recognized by National Yoga Alliance in 2002.

The First studio location of Smiling Circle Yoga opened the door in December 2002 in N.Brookfield, MA.  The second studio space in Sturbridge, MA, previously Kula Yoga Center (www.yogafamily.com), was offered to Yeong by Erin and Greg Abrams.  They wanted to devote their time building a family and asked Yeong if she would continue their common calling, spreading the benefit of Yoga to everyone in the community.  Sadly the second location was closed in July of 2005.

Yeong’s teaching style is very popular among students. She teaches a range of Yoga classes from very gentle and restorative to more physically challenging and vigorous styles.

Students enjoy Yeong’s clear and concise teaching style and her assistance with poses, focusing on breath and alignment. Students describe Yeong’s classes as “caring and nurturing”, “receiving a massage session”, “great workout!”

In Fall of 2002, Yeong enrolled in Massage Therapy program at Bancroft School of Massage Therapy in Worcester, Mass. She graduated in Spring of 2004 with high marks and excellent recommendations from her instructors. She incorporates her learned massage techniques as part of her Yoga class to help students relieve their muscle tensions and emotional stress.  Another office was opened on Plantation Street to receive clients in March of 2004.  This location is dedicated for Massage treatments and private Yoga instructions.  She works closely with Dr.George Debs, DC (Chiropractor) to educate and assist clients to feel better in their body and mind.

In Spring of 2006, Yeong became certified in STOTT Mat Pilates method.  Pilates compliment the Yoga and Massage Therapy services offered at the studio.  Strong core is the foundation to optimal health.

The name of the studio has changed to Smiling Circle Yoga & Massage Therapy Studio , LLC with added service of Massage Therapy in 2004, and STOTT Mat Pilates in 2006. Please visit us in one of two locations. Or contact us for Private or Corporate Yoga and/or Massage Therapy (Chair and/or Table).
